I've racked up some serious miles traveling the globe. My father had a very unique job that moved our family around the world — I left Ethiopia at 6 and the Philippines in my teenage years, with plenty of places in between. Living that way taught me early that "home" means something different to everyone, and that listening beats assuming, every time.

We eventually landed back in Jefferson County, where I finished high school at Chimacum and never really left the Olympic Peninsula. I got my real estate license at 18, so I've spent my entire adult life learning this market — Port Ludlow, Port Townsend, Poulsbo, Silverdale, and the rest of Kitsap and Jefferson County.

If you're relocating here, there's one thing worth understanding before you start touring houses: Kitsap isn't one town, it's four — Bremerton, Bainbridge Island, Port Orchard, and Poulsbo — stitched together by ferry schedules, not highways. A lot of my friends commute the Bainbridge or Kingston run, and I can tell you firsthand that your commute here is measured in ferry departure times, not miles. The local job market leans on Naval Base Kitsap and healthcare rather than a corporate ladder, which changes how you should think about where to land. I walk every relocating client through that before we ever look at a house.

I also work with investors — small multifamily, land, house hacking, and properties with short-term rental potential. I haven't bought an investment property of my own yet, but it's where I'm headed too, which means I ask the same questions you're asking rather than just reciting numbers back to you.
